Este año los asistentes a la 61 Feria de Cali encontrarán puntos ecológicos ubicados en la Autopista Suroriental, escenario de los desfiles (Salsódromo, Carnaval Cali Viejo y Autos Clásicos y Antiguos), también en las canchas de baloncesto de la Unidad Deportiva ‘Jaime Aparicio’ donde se cumplirá el XXVII Encuentro de Melómanos y Coleccionistas, en la Calle de la Feria y en el Grand Prix.
Corfecali, bajo el mandato de buena disposición de los residuos sólidos y el reciclaje, se unió la campaña ‘Cambia el rumbo del plástico, cambia tu mundo’ que adelanta Carvajal Empaques, la Fundación Carvajal y Ecoinnovando con el apoyo del Dagma.
En estos lugares de acopio, los caleños y turistas responsables con el medio ambiente, podrán depositar desechos plásticos en mallas marcadas con la imagen de la 61 Feria; no necesariamente que estén limpios, como bolsas, pitillos, mezcladores, vasos y platos. Esto permitirá que los espacios públicos permanezcan en excelentes condiciones los seis días del evento ferial.
Luego de cumplir con la fase de recolección, empresas conformadas por recicladores de oficio a través de procesos de lavado, descontaminación, secado y peletizado (granulado) convertirán los residuos en resinas plásticas de larga duración que serán utilizadas para fabricar madera plástica, juegos infantiles, casas para mascotas, asientos, mesas, materas, entre otros, logrando el cierre del ciclo de estos materiales y evitando una mayor contaminación.
La Alcaldía de Cali ha emprendido acciones educativas y de inclusión con la población de recicladores, así como programas de sensibilización a la comunidad caleña sobre la importancia de realizar separación de elementos en sus hogares.
El reciclaje es una necesidad global para mejorar la calidad del ambiente y proteger la salud de las personas. Esta práctica permite, entre otras cosas, ahorrar materias primas que se extraen de la naturaleza y aumentar la vida útil de los rellenos sanitarios.
